Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15 to December 7 each year. This is your opportunity to review your current coverage and make changes for the coming year.
What Can You Do During Open Enrollment?
- Switch from Original Medicare to Medicare Advantage (or vice versa)
- Change your Medicare Advantage plan
- Join, switch, or drop a Part D prescription drug plan
- Change your coverage level (family vs. individual)
Why Review Your Coverage Every Year?
Your health needs change, and so do Medicare plans. Each year, insurers can change:
- Monthly premiums
- Deductibles and copayments
- Prescription drug coverage
- Network providers
What worked for you last year may not be the best option this year. Taking time to compare plans could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
When Do Changes Take Effect?
Any changes you make during AEP will take effect on January 1, 2026.
